“What cannot letters inspire? They have souls; they can speak; they have in them all that force which expresses the transports of the heart….”—Héloïse to Abelard
Expressing love in the written word has gone from inspiring and cultivating beautiful, heart-wrenching love letters to the commonly seen 140 characters or less entries. Is it still possible to express love in today’s shortened verse? I believe it to be so. The quote above, without the citation, fits that requirement. Indeed, the power behind those words is undeniable. To find such writing in today’s world is comparable to attempting to locate your lost keys when you are late for an appointment. Searching and searching with little success, until hopelessness takes over and you begin looking again in places you already thoroughly checked. Then, to your relief, you find them in the oddest place. Maybe, if we had a place to put our keys, we’d never lose them. This is similar to the idea that it’s the space that is lacking, not the love within us. The artist and lover inside in each of us cry out for such a creation…a space where people can write and post a love letter to their dearest or, perhaps, to a lost love. Among all that is presently being created, Peeksi.com is also working on a space where your heart can write to its own content to express what hasn’t been said as eloquently as it can be written. We believe that we will discover the people of today have the insight and dedication to reveal through the written word the overwhelming love they hold dear for another person. We already carry the incentive within our hearts. What we need now is the appropriate space.
